    The best thing about this deck is the back, the stars, outstanding. As far as the art of the cards, not much to speak about, and sort of ugly.

    This is a good topic! I'm sorry to have missed you all live. ❤ I don't have most of these. I do have, and also don't show, Dreaming Way. I will say though... when I took that and a few others to a fair, strangers loved it and picked it frequently. Thank you for the reminder re: Lone Women - totally reading along for that (closer to the date). Decks I have but never really talk about... Augenblick, Pagan Otherworlds, Le Tarot Noir, Soul Cards Tarot. I cannot even remember the last time I showed any of these really.

    i commented too soon and now i must add, the fairy tarot is one of my all time favorite decks! i never see anyone talking about it. it's so exceptionally comforting to me, and i just see myself in the cards so much. i'm a homebody, so when i know i'll be away from home for an extended period of time, i MUST take this deck. it feels like home 🧡🧚

    omgg i remember seeing katey flowers talk about the circo tarot a lot and it was one i was so close to getting several times, but it just seemed to disappear as fast as it showed up! so unfortunate. i really hope the creator wasnt screwed over in some kind of dealings.

    I am here 4 years later, looking at this deck. This is a really excellent walkthrough! So much info! Thank you. ❤ I do need to think on some of these cards where they correspond to ogam, as I know if I read with this deck -- Hawthorn for example is a very challenging fid and this would come to mind with the Lovers card which is interesting. It feels like a very well thought out deck and one that might actually be workable for me even as someone with little herbal knowledge.

    • @SunsetBoughTarot
      @SunsetBoughTarot Месяц назад

      I can’t believe I’ve had this deck for over four years! And in all that time it’s still one of my most-loved despite the fact that I am no more of a “herbcrafter” than I was when I first got it. 😆 Now I’m curious to know all the overlaps between this deck and ogam…interestingly enough the seven of water (birch) depicts ogam staves in the illustration so the creators were definitely aware of ogam at least as a divinatory system but I’m not sure how much they thought of it in making associations to the trees in the deck. Time to make more notes in my guidebook I guess! So glad you found the walkthrough helpful 💖

    • @aquamarine18
      @aquamarine18 Месяц назад

      @@SunsetBoughTarot That is so helpful too, knowing that you love it still and that loving it hasn't been contingent on you becoming an herbal expert!! I'm not looking for another intensive study project at the moment. Birch in the ogam has to do with beginnings -- birch is often seen first as it lives on the edges of forests. I'd have to think on the 7 of Water and birch. ❤

    Soooo much agreement with Juli on preferring Circe to Song of Achilles. Like by a mile lol. I super appreciate that SoA is a retelling that finally offers the much needed, super obvious (imo) queer lens for that myth, but the prose and narration in Circe are just so much easier to fall into. Imo anyway. Oh! Did y’all know Madeline Miller is working on a Persephone retelling now? Has this come up before? So excited! The mental image of just so, so, too many plants in Sarah’s plant deck duo readings, also 🤣 Also super intrigued by that first indie horror read from Heather! Indie publishing, just as a concept, totally fascinates me. And ANY book or movie that shares DNA w Event Horizon? Sign me up lol. Also I am so jealous that you audioread Jurassic Park! That’s been on my list for ages because the film is also SUCH nostalgic gold for me. All those scenes you mentioned, plus the raptors in the kitchen. Love it. Fantastic lol

    • @SunsetBoughTarot
      @SunsetBoughTarot Месяц назад

      I haven’t read Song of Achilles but it’s been on my list since Circe…but I have also just been put off by the fact that Achilles has been one of my least favorite characters in Greek mythology literally since reading the Iliad in high school. Love the idea of a queer lens on the story but I still always found that dude wildly annoying. 🤣 But a Persephone retelling, now THAT I can get excited about!! Jurassic Park is so great…after we filmed this episode I rewatched it again recently and it’s incredible how well that film holds up. Those 30-year-old special effects still look shockingly good!!

    I loved seeing everyone's creations! ❤ I love Robin's hats and dolls -- absolutely fantastic. I can knit and have crocheted precisely one thing, but tendonitis makes it hard (somehow cross stitch is less painful). My grandma, who is turning 97 next month, taught me knitting as a kid. I especially love everybody's wisdom around crafting -- use a pattern or don't, play around, squares can make anything, just have fun.

    • @SunsetBoughTarot

    I learned with Robert Wang's Golden Dawn deck (a Pip deck with ugly Pips) and I had no book but the LWB. After a while I got the Thoth and the motherpeace and the RWS, and books for them, and I must say the motherpeace really clicked for me, and the Thoth was great too ( I had a book by Akron and Banzhaf for the Thoth). The RWS didn't at first, it took me a while despite reading several books, but some cards never made sense to me, why they should mean what was in the books. I saw them differently, but wasn't confident enough to just go with "my "meanings. So I read with my other decks and Margarete Petersen mostly, until decades later, and suddenly I could read RWS too (maybe because my confidence to trust my own numerological and elemental meanings was better by then).

    • @SunsetBoughTarot
      @SunsetBoughTarot 2 месяца назад

      Yeah learning to be able to apply your own meanings is such a challenge sometimes! Even with some of the books I recommend, I don’t always entirely agree with all the takes on the cards (like the seven of swords description in Kitchen Table Tarot is way too narrow imo, just as an example)…maybe the truest best advice for beginners is to take everything from books as suggestions or jumping off points for developing your own meanings.

      🤣 like I was feeling actual physical pain seeing a non-tarot-reader buying someone the WU as their first deck. Just full “nooooooo” 😭

    Always good to catch you three. Some great learner advice here. I love hearing folks interpretations of the cards still for the exact reason discussed. They’re often far more varied reader to reader than I think learners are led to believe sometimes. Which perhaps helps relaxing into the play of interpretation rather than feeling like rigid memorisation is the way to go.

      Absolutely! And also there’s nothing like seeing how multiple cards can get put together into an overall picture or story in an actual reading…that’s the part of reading that’s kind of impossible to learn from a book. 💖💖💖

    So sorry I missed you today, especially because I'm in the process of writing a review for a local metaphysical store about decks to get as a beginner if you don't want or like Pixie's art. I'm taking a look at two U.S. Games decks: Old Style Tarot and Star Maiden Tarot. Thank you for sharing your ideas and thoughts!!

      I really need to take a closer look at the Old Style Tarot, it seems very much like my aesthetic…

    You girls reminded me to order the robin wood book. I'm not a huge fan of the vintage art..but its such a good reader. I've learned to love it

      It really was the deck that taught me tarot even though the artwork is not at all my style…a classic for a reason! 😊

    So glad I found you. Such great recommendations in this video. Like you, I grip a fountain pen in such a way that the Vanishing Point is very uncomfortable. I took your advice and ordered the parts for my new Franken-pen. Also, like you I love the Hongdian Knife Blade. I have it on the Hongdian N23 Blue Rabbit-another inexpensive and beautiful pen with a terrific nib. Thanks for a great video.

      Thank you so much!! The Hongdian Knife Blade is just great…I actually just picked up another one (on an N7) because I enjoy it so much. Hope your frankenpen works out for you!!
